That’s my site. I’d be willing to host files on the site. I could probably also host the mailing list; I already have one for the Chroma.ChrisOn Oct 19, 2019, at 3:38 PM, 'torontodoorman@...' torontodoorman@... Thanks for the archive!I’m moving a couple of Korg and Mellotron related groups over to groups.io. Looks like a good place. You could transfer the subscriber list over there (that is free), and also put the archive in the files section. At least the community will continue to exist.About having your own place: I run the synth-diy mailinglist on my own server, but that only has mailing list and archive functionality. No files/photos/etc, but this has never been an issue. Feel free to ask if I can be of help.Ben
Thank you Chris for the heads up.
It was inevitable that something like this would happen.
If you are quick enough you can save anything you want from this group. I'll try to save as much as possible and bundle this as a single compressed file which can be shared with everyone.. Files are 20Mb and the photos and messages should be of a similar size.
Myself I won't use Facebook or Google groups ever so I won't go there. If anyone wants to go there and wants my support feel free to contact me.
Groups.io looks promising but with every 'free' option there is the same risk of that company stopping that free service. If anyone has any other suggestions please let us know and we can have a look and a conversation about it. Another option would be to rent an own place and run some (open-source) mail list there and become independent and future proof.
To all the users who don't frequently check in I'll try to communicate the plans ASAP and use this mailing list to point out where to go next (or if we need to move at all).
