It sounds like you possibly disturbed the fragile ribbon connectors by opening the lid and repairing the jacks. These ribbon connectors were an inherent design flaw of a great machine and were subject to cracking and breaking over time. Don't feel bad, not your fault. And don't let this turn you away from the Polaris becasue sonically it's an amazing instrument, and other than the ribbon connector problem, it's a very rugged and reliable machine.
