Hi Bakis,
Well, I guess that there are basically 2 uses for any quantizer
(correct me if I'm wrong please)
1. correcting/tuning the output from a sequencer
2. deriving note-sequences (melodies, arpeggio's) from any voltage
source, like an lfo, adsr, noise, complex envelopes etc. etc
If Chuck sees no use for a 'breakout box' for individual note-values,
my guess would be that he uses a quantizer primarily to tune a
sequencer.
But I think quite a few people on this list have allready asked for
something a little more sophisticated than the a-156, to be able to
customise or finetune the scales, melodies, arpeggio's or whatever it
is they want to derive from some dynamic voltage source.
I think a minimum option would be 12 cv-outputs for each of the 12
values of the a-156, for building custom scales. Once you can get to
these individual values, you could finetune them further with the high
precision adder that's coming up (Not sure about this) so that
would even make it possible to create all kinds of tunings outside the
12-tone equal temperament tuning (allthough this might cost a lot of
modules)
But also extra functionality for arpeggio's would be nice (this
probably means more cv-outputs) and perhaps even an individual
gate-output for each cv-output (like Joost is suggesting ) which
might be very handy for all kinds of extended uses.
Greetings,
Anton
