Right, no AD/DA. Only the frequency dividing is made digital (there's no
other way). The rectangle/sawtooth converter is pure analog.

If you need technical details: it's a voltage controlled current source that
is used to charge a capacitor (rising slope of the sawtooth). The fast
discharge (sawtooth reset) is triggered by the positive slope of the
internal rectangle. The control voltage for the current source is derived
from the rectangle by a simple frequency-to-voltage converter.
