For adding two control voltages for tonal control you need a precision
adder.
An adder adds the two voltages, but prevents that the electronics of one
module interact with the electronics of the other module.
A multiple is a direct current connection between all attached
electronics. The electronic of each connected module will interact with
the electronics of all the other connected modules. The results won't be
predictable and in worts case you might destroy something.
A dedicated precision adder module is not existant at the moment in the
product range of Doepfer. But there are several modules which can be
used in a similar way. Basically all mixers like the A-138 are similar
to an adder, but not exactly. Also the quantizer as asimilar function.

If you would modify it. it would become and adder, and would not be a
multiple any longer.
Basic principle:
- Multiples provide several OUTPUTS where there was only one output before
- Mixers and adders provide several INPUTS where there was only one
input before
