I have to say that when I recieved my ZO, I was rather unimpressed as
well. I spent days patching messing with it, trying to get what I
considered "my money's worth" out of it. Then little by little it
started to really impress me when I wasn't expecting it, especially as
a modulation source. Now I have these monstrous patches where
practically everything is being controlled (rather, dominated,
manhandled, etc.) by the ZO's multitude of outputs. I was expecting a
DX7, instead I got a Tesla Coil. It's definitely unique and amazing,
it just wasn't (in my personal experience) as immediately gratifying
as most of the other modules I've used.
That's my 2ยข's.
As far as a module similar to the Casio CZ synths, I'm not aware that
such a thing exists, but I would gladly one if it did.
