Add on:
I don't know how the "start"/"stop" handles the clock in the actual
design. But my suggestion requires for external clock also that "stop"
disables the clock itself, or (if this is not good for some reasons)
"stop" has to disable also the divider in my example. This requires that
the separated start/stop triggers switch a Gate-like signal (like the
Start/Stop-Signal in DIN-Sync). Could be done easily with a second
RS-FlipFlop.
