this is the exact thing i use the S&H and CV mixer combo for...i take a high (note) cv out of my midi> cv box (a Roland MPU 101) and feed it into the &H, triger it once, and take the output in to the cv mixer...then i can combine any cv combo into an osc and use the S&H out to sweep as far as i want ...i was going to get the manual cv source (A176 ), but after i figured it out i decided i didn't really need it....but imho everyone should own a dual S&H, it's very usefull...and a cv (linear) mixer...
(sorry, i'm horrible at remembering the Doepfer numbers, actually i wish people would write the mod names out so i don't have to look them up so much :) )

Also, the tuning range of my VCOs is limited to a couple of half tone steps.
Detuning one by a larger amount requires the use of a constant CV source and
either a mixer or the CV2 input - this module, esp. with an unattenuated
input, would be a killer for "fat fifth" type sounds.
What I'm describing above is similar and in my opinion superior to the
dotcom q125.
