When replacing LEDs, two things you should be aware of. Modern LEDs (that includes most of
the new exotic colors) are significantly more efficient. So in addition to replacing the LED,
you'll need to change its associated current resistor on the circuit board. Otherwise you'll end
up with blinding super bright lights making your system obnoxious to use. I found I usually
had to replace resistors around 100X larger on most Doepfer modules.
The other issue is most new LEDs you find are now clear instead of old-school diffused. The
clear versions have a viewing angle way too narrow to be really useful as panel mounted
indicators. Unfortunately the diffused versions (if you can even find them) are usually
significantly more expensive.
