Well, what was cool about the module was the fact that it was going to be one module that would do various functions.
Dieter, maybe all you need to do is make the front panel a bit bigger and add a couple more controls.
Maybe your second option would be to make 'brain' modules with the AD/microcontroller+memory/DA and 'faceplate function' modules with pots and jacks specific to a certain modules' functions. There would be no real electronics with these modules just jacks and pots.
