There are no plans to update the MAQ software. The main reason is that one
would need additional controls that are not available to implement
additional features (e.g. an additional button for each step, a second LED
for each step, display with more characters ...). From my point of view even
for the current software the available controls (8 buttons and the 3-digit
display) are not really satisfying. To include additional features more
controls and a larger display would be necessary - but that's no longer the
MAQ16/3 but another device. We tried to maintain the hardware of the MAQ16/3
since more than 10 years (only the main board and the CV/Gate board have
been changed/added a few years ago) but now we reached a point where it does
not make sense to add more features to the software without having
additional controls (if you have ideas that can be realized with the
existing controls please contact Christian Assall directly:
software-at-doepfer-dot-de). We think about a new sequencer but it's much
too early for details. Some very early ideas are shown on our website (on
the A-100 keyboard page).
