hi all,
i received yesterday my a154/155 sequencer combo :)
first things first: this is an amazing piece of kit for the price, a
really elegant set of features.
on trawling the archives i found a lot of opinions for and against the
differing reset behaviours of the two modules (jumper round the back
might be good), but no workaround. much as i'm enjoying discovering
the alternatives offered by the a154's reset (been using the a160/161
combo up till now = a155 behaviour), here is my solution to modify its
reset behaviour in combination with an a190 midi interface (since i'm
locked into using midi sync on gigs) and an a150 vcs, which sets the
a155 to the first step at the "right" time.
the reset of the a190 goes to the reset input of the a154 and the cv
input of an a150 vcs.
the clock of the a190 goes to the common o/i of the a150.
i/o1 of the a150 goes to the clock input of the a154.
i/o2 goes to the ext start input of the a154.
when the a190 receives the midi-stop message, the reset goes high,
disconnecting the clock from the a154 and resetting its next step to
1, while the still running clock signal is used to prime the starter
in readiness for the next clock pulse. when the midi-start signal
comes, the a 154 gets connected to the clock and starts from step 1.
if there's a solution out there that saves more space, i'd be grateful
to here it. anyway, thought it time to post a solution instead of a
question.
