the most important thing is not to use unattenuated
waveforms from a vco. i found it most appealing
to use lowpass-filtered signals with much lower
output level than the direct vco waveforms,
lets say around 50 % of the usual vco output level.
same applies to external signals. it is not necessary
to use simple waveforms only, the input signal for the
a136 can also be quite complex. the key is to
scale the a136 input correctly. since the a136
has no input attenuator you have to use another
module for that task, like a vca, mixer of vcf.
i also got interesting results when inserting
the a136 in the feedback loop of a vcf.
best wishes
