Even later response!
I just recieved the A-125 yesterday, so haven't had a chance to give
it a really good run yet, but on first listen it has given my modular
a nice additional sound shaping tool. Its sufficiently swooshy and
swirly when required, as all good phasers should be. Jet and wind
sounds are a "breeze"! Plus, I'm enjoying trying all of those wacky
modulated phase shifts that I could never do on an effect pedal. The
manual phase shift knob in conjunction with the CV amount knob allows
you to kind of dial in a frequency band within which your phase shift
occurs. Again, something that goes beyond the average pedal.
Modulating it with audio frequency CVs at high resonance yielded some
interesting results. Its not a module to use in every patch (eg: a
guitarist probably wouldn't play every note through a phaser pedal),
but a nice expansion module to experiment with. Soundwise, although I
quite like the resonant tone from the A-125, I would say its not
as "watery or coloured" (don't you love subjective sound
descriptions! ! ) as the EH Small Stone (which I own). Its perhaps
closer to the Boss PH-1 (which I used to own). This would kind of make
sense from Mr. Doepfer's description of the circuit. I'm guessing this
also means that its likely to be close to the Sytsem 100 phase shifter
(which I've not used). I belive the EH Small Stone uses
transconductance op amps which yield a different resonant tone.
On a final note: for me the A-125 was the right combination of price,
straight forward features and size (I like the fact that it only uses
8HP in my rack).
Hope this helps you and others.
Regards,
Adam

end, but i want the ability to patch in to my Doepfer system, and
there are some used mods available atm...
