yes, you should stop triggering from your sequencer
(WHEN IN REC MODE), unless you just want crazy
results...
you can trigger from your sequencer (or from
whatever)after you have recorded your sample, and when
in play mode.
regarding best input level, you have to try it out.
after all, you monitor the sampling input when in rec
mode, so you can hear if the input is distorted.
btw, the sample (after its recorded) sounds better
than the monitored sampling input!
after you master 'simple' sample recording, you can
use its wavetable mode for more distorted and glitchy
results.
