hi rachel, it is possible. you can do it through midi program change.
to get single 16th note rests or 16th note values, go to the PA and
PR fields in the event menu while in stop mode, they are all the way
right to end. once you get there you can choose between PA 1 to 5 or
PR 1 to 5. the NA and NR fields are constant 16th notes being output
by each channel. there is no way to tie notes on the MAQ, what a
pity, it's ok none of the other ...werk boxes tie notes either,so
you're not excluded from such a function. in this mode you can turn
each step on or off depending where you turn the step knob to. all
the way to the right turns the step off. anywhere to the left of the
first note on sets the note on and the midi or cv value according to
the octave ratio you have set it to. this is really hard to decipher
from the shitty manual that comes with the unit. most people i have
known that have MAQ's did not know about this feature. hope this
helps.
cheers and good luck,
RM
