I posted pics of my modular case in the pics section of the group.
It's under "Techmaster's Modular". My dad helped me build it (I'm
fully qualified, but he has the tools and wood, and he loves
woodworking) out of mahogany this past week. The dove-tails give it a
really nice touch, I think...that was his doing. I've got a few
modules in already and mounted. Hopefully soon I'll have enough
modules to call it a "musical instrument". :) Anyways, I wanted to
check with you other DIYers out there, and see if anybody had
suggestions on hardware for the outside of the case. First, it needs
a carrying handle, and second it needs latches to hold the lid on.
Right now, the lid just slides on from the front, and nothing keeps it
there, no hinges or anything. So, I'm wanting to maybe do 4
briefcase-style latches, two on each side basically. Problem is,
there's a lip, roughly 1/2" deep, on both the case and the lid, where
they lock together. So, the screw holes need to have at least that
much clearance between the top and bottom pieces of the latch. I'm
having a hard time finding anything decent that matches the brass
hardware I've used so far. Also, I'm thinking a handle on the top
sort of like a guitar amp handle. Rockler sells a decent looking one:

I'm just not sure how much weight it can take, or is it even meant to
take weight at all... (perhaps it's decorative )
Anyways, I'm in the US...if anybody could suggest some places on the
internet to order some good hardware, it would be HUGELY appreciated!
Thanks!
