I quite fancy the idea of an analogue delay myself (in fact that's likely to be my next project after my current one: a multi-segment, linear envelope generator - it nearly works!). However, having spent some hours scouring the web for info on the old charge coupled devices/bucket brigade devices that they use, I quite get the impression that no one actually manufactures such chips anymore - you have to find someone who still has stock of existing supplies left (witness the fact that Blacet have a request on their website for 60 or so, presumably to use in their Time Machine). If I were someone looking to develop something like that commercially, I think I would steer clear of using anything that couldn't be sourced new/had only limited stocks available. My point is that if Doepfer were to think about producing a delay line, they might have little option but to go digital anyway.
Since there are a plethora of effects pedals (flangers, chorus units etc.) that you can buy for guitars, which presumably need to use some kind of delay line or other, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows whether they use analogue devices, or whether they are digital, and hence if the view above is likely to be correct.

Mmm, surprisingly few takers so far! Anyhow, the suggestion to go analogue -> digital -> analogue is precisely what happens in the A-156 quantiser, and I for one am comfortable with the idea.
