I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a effect that is caused by a state of the
module that is between two states of a mode that causes more "dramatic"
changes (i.e. not the bit crusher, delay or FIR filter but probably one of
the "algorithmic" modes like AND/OR/XOR/bit shift/swap/addition). If the
module toggles e.g. accidentally between two bit shift states this might
create this effect.
