The RS-210 comb filter has a much shorter delay than even a 512 BBD
can do, there is a HUGE difference being that the doepfer BBDs are
much more versatile than the comb filter. The comb filter is a nice
module, but much less versatile. It's got a nice distinct sound to
me, but is not a BBD replacement. For Karplus stuff I use a 188-1
512stages and recently added the ASys Echo (I forget the model number
now). The 188-1 gives you more access to the BBD (like the clock a
second audio input, but overall, the ASys echo will probably slowly
replace the 188-1 as my main Karplus delay module since it is stereo
and I'm doing more stereo sythesis now. If you got the space, the
188-1 and the ASys Echo are great for wacking out sound. The Doepfer
BBDs are ok for delay, but very gritty, for clean delays I use the
ASys delay.
The Doepfer 132-3 (I think that's the number) is a very nice sounding
VCA that can be used for control signals as well since it's exp and
lin.
