I'd be surprised if there were many left now that haven't failed, but
if it happens to you, an even cheaper way around it is to crack the
metal can, cut/lever away the plastic/goo and remains of the filter,
until all that's left are the metal connectors, then simply resolder
the mains wires to these terminals. This means no expense, no
sourcing of parts, and no more than 2 hours work.
