from my experience, you probably need to replace the dead battery.
i had similar symptoms (no sampling, and only clicks in the audio output after sampling and only monitoring the incoming audio worked fine) and, after the battery replacement, my A112 worked fine.

Subject: 1 a112 sampler questions

hi.
i received a doepfer a112 sampler (wavetable oscillator) module with a
broken battery terminal that appears to have broken due to battery
corrosion.
i just spent quite a while fussing with it and, while its monitoring
the input signal ok, im not getting this module to sample.
even without a battery, shouldnt samples stay in memory while power is
on
i should also note that when attempting to sample into s1 or s2, i can
hear random popping sounds when the tune control is set to above 5,
even when theres no audio signal input.
btw, ive been sampling while gate is on and have switched back to play
mode and attempted to gate the sample using both the manual button and
an external gate. the most i get is a click at gate on.
any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks
mini
