Hi,
I´ve just compared both VCOs and think the 110 sounds fatter and indeed much
sharper than the 111; especially when you mix one 111 & one 110 the sound is
not as thick as when mixing two 110s. My opinion. Might be the effect of the
lesser stability of the 110s.
Both VCO´s Hard Sync is nice, but totally different.
Personally, I don´t have a favorite. Both sound very good. The 110´s price
is unbeatable. The 111 *is* expensive, but the linear FM feature is worth
the cash.
Curiosities:
-The 110´s output is louder than the 111´s.
- The front panel on the A-111 shows a SAW waveform ( the sawtooth starts at
the top and goes down to the bottom then resets at the top), but in reality
the module generates a RAMP waveform ( ramp goes up to the peak, then resets
at the bottom and "ramps" up.). Why is that
- When I plug my oscilloscope into the 111´s PULSE out, the offset seems
wrong to me. It looks something like this (i hope you all can see that):
___ ___
_|__ |__ |__ | __ ___
| | | |
| | | |
|___| |___|
Within ten to twelve seconds it "glides up" to a normal offset:
___ ___
| | | |
_|__ |___|___|__ ___
| | | |
|___| |__ |
the whole effect is inaudible, but interesting nevertheless. Is it an error
in the CEM 3340 or in my ´scope (I don´t think so, because it works OK with
my 110s)
