The doepfer is a passive matrix - It says under the power
requirements: "Strombedarf/Current: 0 mA (passives Modul, passive
module)"
The active matrix would be a bit more expensive I'm sure but I'm sure
it would be a much better system seeing that no module makers seem to
be buffering the ins and outs of their modules. The chances of sending
a CV to a bunch of inputs or visa versa is so much greater in a matrix
patching system than in a patch cord based rig.
