i had it pre-patched from Athens and closed the lid with all the
patchcables connected (a lot of patchcables! it was a complex patch...)
when i removed the lid in the performing stage, before the concert,
everything was into place and all patchcords made fine contact and everything was
working as it should.
of ocurse i did not even had to retune any vco or anything!
so, the Doepfer modules gets my vote fully for a reliable stage modular
and the A100 P9 suitcase is perfect for this job!
bakis,
tho i use a p6 portable case and a d.i.y. mini-footlocker in lieu of a p9,
i agree that the doepfer modular travels well for performance. i agree,
too, that being able to travel with the unit patched up and ready to go is a
real convenience. i recently watched a great performance done on a buchla
200e which is a sexy-as-hell synth with a slick folding case *but* guess
what, it doesn`t fold and travel patched ! the artist dealt with this by
having his patchcords color-coded and tied together in the requisite bundles
for each connection group. but where it took him 1/2 hour to get ready, it
takes me 5 minutes - open case, plug into power, plug into amp and
ready-to-go ! :^)
good news on your performances - i just completed a group of them and am
getting ready for some more in october.
best,
dave
