hey everyone
Popping up here again, as I have modular synthesis on the brain this
week. :-) Still haven't made my move on starting a system, mostly
because reality has intruded and made me realize I can't quite afford
it yet, but I'm still doing my homework and I must admit that I am
starting to lean toward the Doepfer camp.
High on my list of priorities is finding a good transistor ladder VCF.
Yes, I am firmly in the thrall of the classic Moog sound, and
unashamedly so. Gotta have it. We established a while ago that the
Doepfer A-120 is an okay but not great Moog-style filter; the A-108 is
better. Okay, well I've also noticed that mfb in Germany has a pretty
cheap model as well that looks good, but I can't open up their sound
samples to give it a listen, and nothing on YouTube either. Also found
the Analogue Solutions SY03 and SY04 out of the UK. Any opinions or
practical experience with either of these modules
Also interested in the A-102 diode ladder filter, which I'm assuming
is a clone of the VCS3 filter. I have heard samples of this one and
like it (I like the original too!). Question: is the cutoff slope on
the A-102 18db or 24db--and, for that matter, what is it on the VCS3
Thanks folks!
cheers
