Hi,
You had some questions about modules. The A-160 (clock) divider takes a
clock signal (from a sequencer or a Midi-> CV converter) and creates
rhythmic divisions, such as ½, 1/8 and so on. This way you can synchronise a
voltage controlled LFO to your master clock, for example.
The A-116 VC waveform processor takes an input waveform and mangles it
through two parameters, clipping and symmetry, which are both under voltage
control. Serious sound destruction can be had.
Regarding logarithmic vs. linear characteristics: You have two types of
signals in a (normal) modular system, linear and logarithmic. Control
voltages conform to linear, audio to logarithmic. Therefore a logarithmic
VCA is better suited for audio duties. Mind you, you are by no means
required to use it that way.
The A-113 sub harmonic generator is part of Doepfers Trautonium project
where they recreated the functionality of the pioneer electronic instrument
Trautonium (google Oscar Sala) and recreated it in a modular system.
Pretty awesome, if you ask me. The other module in that range is the A-104
Trautonium formant filter. The A-113 takes a square wave (from an A-110 for
instance) and generates 4 independent lower frequency square waves. I am not
sure if this module will suit your need. The ratio of the individual square
waves is not under voltage control. On the other hand, it gives you some
very serious low end potential. But you need a square wave to start with.
I second what David said about envelopes and VCAs, cant have enough of
them. Also, consider a joy stick (A-174). Two independent control voltages
under manual control.

Whoa!
This is the quickest and nicest advice ive ever gotten. THANKS GUYS!
Thanks a million, everything is being noted & my head is spinning a little
although light is being shed and my ideas are getting clearer!
I think for now it would be best to just get the sound sources from my DAW
and use the modular as an effects/shaping/sound design tool. I would
probably go for modular sound source once I get my head around which
units/brand do what exaclty.
Here is my current ("interest") list (as far as I can understand from
reading/hearing the details of each unit specifically on the site)
Others Brands:
GeigerCounter(FnckYEAH!)
B:assMaster (Euro Rack)
Doepfer:
A119input
A100P6 (case)
A124Wasp
A-140 env1eope
A-115audiodivider
A-116waveshaper
A-136distortion
A-188 BBD
A187-1
A189-1 Bit Crusher,
A137-1 Wave Multipliers
A106 Xtrene Filter
A113 Sub Harmonic Gen
Very confused with what these are exactly/if I need them:
* 1 x Trigger Divider A-160
* 1 x VC Waveform Processor A-116
* 1 x logarithmic VCA A-131
I do actually own a TM7 Scrotum Smasher & TM1 & llooove them dearly :)
So does the above list make sense to have a working/functioning box of
destruction heehee :)
I dont mind everything being mono as I usually prefer mono anyways.
You guys rock!!

basic systems are great but if you wanna add more modules, you'll need more
rackspace. So better have a look at which modules you think you can live
without in the basic system and replace them with more specific modules.
Trust me, the time you spend reading every module user manual will help you
a lot when you get your hands on your system for the first time.
