If Doepfer are told it is to be a system when they get the order then for a small fee, they will put it all together and test it out. They also fill in any unused space with blank panels to make sure the unit meets minimum electrical safety requirements.
If they did not tell you, then your dealer was remiss in not advising you that it can be `built' as a system. In fact i would have expected the dealer to have done this themselves - I would and do.
The thing you need to be aware of is the orientation of the power cables connecting your modules to the bus-board in the cabinet. On the bus board, -12V is at the BOTTOM of board as you look at it. Similarly, on the modules the -12V is also at the bottom. I am no aware of any Doepfer modules that don't comply with this but I am sure someone will jump in and tell you if that is the case.
The general rule of thumb is to use the red-strip on the ribbon cable as your power indicator. If you plug in to the bus board with the stripe at the bottom, then the stripe is -12V and the stripe should then also go to the bottom on the module. It should be that simple.
If you plug the cable in the wrong way on any module then you run the risk of damaging the module - that goes for all of them. Some will just be more vulnerable than others. There is a page on the Doepfer website that goes in to this in more details so please view that page.

Subject: 1 Assembly
Hi guys, long time!
My day has finally arrived where my unit that you all helped me put together is arriving tomorrow [Place Angel Choir SFX here:]
One problem is though the dealer told me it was sent in bits and pieces (case/units separately) & not assembled..I read, for example, on the MIDI unit, that if you plug the cable in the wrong way..You risk blowing the unit up. So as to make 100% sure, I wanted to know if there is anything I need to know when I assemble tomorrow..If I stuff this up, its going to cost me a fortune to send it back to Europe & im going to have to wait another 6 weeks :(
My units that I ordered are:
A100-G6 Rack/Case
A143-1
A138-b
A115
A119
A137-1
A106
I did check Doepfer site before writing here and downloaded the manuals too, but found nothing about what I should/should not do..(I guess it was that MIDI cable thing I read that freaked me out!..Even though I dont have a MIDI in my system yet)
I just cant afford to take any risks..
Any tips (Apart from not assembling the system with it plugged into the wall of course)
