The A-185 has an output impedance that is effectively zero Ohms so it can drive very many VCOs without affecting scale accuracy. Depending on what you are driving your VCOs from already there may not be a need to use a buffered mult (i.e. A-185) for just a few VCOs if the pitch error is of the same order as the VCOs themselves.
