hi joe, i played a Modcan system a while ago and can attest to their
sound and construction, very good. check out this url.
http://www.modcan.com/MODHTML/modules.html
check out the last 10 or so modules on the list.
their delay and frequency shifter sound great. the shifter has better
sound and range than the A126 and the delay has a great feature set,
8192 stages for delay time, plus vc of every parameter. listen to the
demos. the VC Reset LFO in combination with the Cynthia modules will
give you a bevy of sequencer and aleatoric functions and
possibilities.
and to top it off, they have a new sequencer in the pipeline that can
actually do more than spit out a steady stream of 16th notes. it will
be polyphonic as well, if it works the way it should, you can say bye
bye schaltwerk.
so don't let the panel format stop you from buying the modules,
access to new modules will bring more power to your music making.
Plus Cynthia will be releasing in limited quantity , a reissue of the
Buchla 292 Quad LoPass Gates, which is absolutely stunning once you
try them. she will release them different capicitor values as well
for different textures. the ability to do spectral gating is a very
powerful sound shaping tool.once you've used them, you can't go on
without them.
so good luck and consider the options of having them in your studio
for more sonic capabilities.
