hi all,
for sale (or for trade with Buchla items only) :
my fantastic fine cosmetic and working condition Analogue Systems RS370 Polyphonic Harmonic Generator and RS375 expander. these modules can do a million things and i really like them, but i have two pairs and that's why i am selling one pair. (wavetable and additive synthesis with up to 32 partials, works via midi and via cv/gate, 6 voice polyphony, (works as midi to cv interface even!)
new price of 370+375 is 880 UKP meaning 1016 euros.
i am selling the PAIR for only 690 euros!!! i eat the pp fees you pay shipping which will not be much for sure, up to 30 euros i assume IF you get the case too. for the module pair only, it will be cheaper!
i would prefer to sell the AS RS15 6u case together with the modules for 230 euros more. but i can sell it separately only AFTER the RS370+375 have been sold or traded.
btw, the AS RS15 case has 14 AS connectors and 8 doepfer connectors so you can put other modules in the second (free) row of the case. the RS370+375 takes one full row of the RS15.
you have to go here and read the PDF manual of 370+375 to understand their huge creative potential:
http://www.analoguesystems.co.uk/modules.htm
now, because RS370 cpu runs at full capacity their operation is sometimes glitchy (and this happens to both my rs370's, so its 'normal' to operate like that.)
here is what my detailed tests, some months ago, showed, and what i mean by glitchy operation (the operation becomes glithcy, by pitch not being very stable, and machine sometimes stucking and needing powercycle to fix it) : when this happens you just reduce the load in the CPU (in analogue poly mode that means less cv/gate inputs for less voices and less control cv inputs so the CPU can process their inputs more correctly... in midi mode (poly or mono) works much much better with little or no problem at all.) it has its own two lfo's and you can assign midi controllers to many destination inside the synth, etc, etc... better read the pdf manual. i have the latest operating system of course.
they sound great and work fine in midi poly mode. also their control cv inputs work nicely in poly midi mode. it seems in poly analogue mode that the various cv/gate inputs stress the cpu a lot.... anyway, in the occasional stucking, just power-cycle or reduce the number of cv inputs and controllers in the synth sound you are making... today one rs370/375 got stuck in power up without doing nothing but a power cycle fixed the issue at once.... weird things... but they do work and they do sound really nice and very special! :-) that's why i have been using them for years and years.... its poly midi to cv functions is nice and i have already used it to make a poly serge sound in one of my album tracks. again its a bit quirky, but, in the end, it works and its nice to have a poly midi to cv inside the synth for free!
anyway the rs370/375 sound fantastic, especially all the etherial additive synthesis presets....(regarding calibration, i never touched them/calibrated them... never needed to). the expander has various voltage ranges. in bipolar ranges you will find that the 0 volts setting is many times not exactly in the center of the knobs. i do not know if this has to do with calibration, but it never bothered me at all and so i never touched the calibration procedures...
i had even mailed Bob Williams to ask about their operation and he told me that (copy/pasted) :
"Yes the cpu is running at full capacity because of all the features that were added. In the beginning it was just going to be an oscillator bank but over time it became a synthesizer in its own right"
i think any RS370 owner who has used many of its capabilities can confirm this behavior.
btw, i have been using these modules from 2006 in many albums of mine and the glithcy operation never bothered me. i think i used them in all possible modes. they really are very special sounding modules. you can design your own additive waves and influence them in realtime via 16 cv inputs! you can influence the complex envelope via cv inputs. you can sweep the various preset wavetables via cv inputs, etc, etc, etc...
a fantastic module, i am keeping one pair and selling the other... as its 6 voice polyphonic. each voice has its individual output and its individual cv.gate input in analogue mode! read the manual!
only trades i am interested is with Buchla modules, clones and verbos modules. such as:
Buchla 260e Duophonic Pitch class Generator
Buchla 272e Polyphonic Tuner(i would much prefer pre V.30 for all these above, but above or V.30 is also ok...)
Buchla 297 Infinite Phase shifter
Verbos 243v Programmable Pulser
Verbos 247v Sequential Voltage Source
Eardrill modulemodule Chassis with Morphun, ADSR, vc-slew, lfo, Pulse Baloons, etc, etc
Buchla 200 or 100 clones (built by djangosfire, roman_f, or whatever reliable building source), clones, from EU again, like:
123 Sequential Voltage Source
144 Dual Square Wave Osc
180 Dual Attack Gen
192 Dual Low Pass Filter
291 Dual Band Pass Filter
281 Quad Function Gen
292 Quad Low Pass Gate
266 Source of Uncertainty
295 Ten Channel Filter
any other nice clones that i am missing maybe...
also looking for one Buchla 201e-4u unpowered boat with rackears.
(in bold are the items that i am most interested for, but all buchla listed items are of interest to me).
please contact me OFF-list
MANY thanks for the bandwidth, :)
best regards,
Bakis.
