The most obvious application would be for live performances. I
remember Keith Emerson used to have something like this connected
to his Moog modular. It was a big, custom-made contraption that
allowed the synth to be re-patched on the fly. Later, I guess it
become more practical to put half a dozen RS Integrator systems on
the stage, and change patches by changing synthesizers.
