I have had my DE mk2 a couple of years now, and it has proved a great companion to my DE mk1. Tuning stability and tracking performance have been great, as long as I remember to allow around 30 minutes from switching on, for the DE mk2's tuning to stabilise.
A couple of days ago this changed. The DE mk1 tuned quickly after powering up, but the DE mk2 took far longer to settle, and even after an hour, the tuning was flat, and the volt/octave scaling was miles out. I checked the DE mk2's tracking with the strobe tuner plug-in for my apple mac mini, and this confirmed what my ears were already telling me. As a reference i tested other VCO's I have, such as my pair of A-110's, my DE mk1 and my beloved Korg MS10. All of these measured very well for volt/Octave tracking, after an initial warm up period of 5 minutes.
I have read that the DE mk2 employs a Tempco circuit, that contributes to tuning stability by heating up, and then maintaining a predefined temperature. How would I test this Can the tempco board be bought as a separate item I removed the rear cover of the DE mk2, and have identified the Tempco board, and the plug that connects it to the main circuit board. It looks a straightforward swap-out task, as long as any recalibration can be done with my strobe tuner and my ears!
Cheers,
