well, here we are 8 years later of this nice conversation we had on granular synthesis in modular format...
i am very excited about the news from Mutable Instruments for their new CLOUDS module...
at last a serious candidate for modular granulation !
i have seen the other diferent proposals for it like the Qu-Bit Naebula which stupidly lacks of the absolutelly esential audio input option
or the very deceptioning, ridiculously expensive, counter-intuitive, un-necesarelly noisy and user un-friendly attempt from australian Mungo G0 with it's awfully made front panel (for the price they charge they could at least give a decent front panel instead of this horribly low-quality scratched aluminium plate...)
Mutable Instruments CLOUDS not only sounds great but it has an incredibly well designed and intuitive layout, with just the right amount of CV controlable parameters to be a great exploratory tool... and the design is simply gorgous !
and not only grains are here but also modal synthesis with ELEMENTS, another hyper intuitive and powerfull aproach of creative physical modeling with its exciter section and resonating filter array...
simple happyness !!!
the wait was long but it's finally here !
thank you Olivier !
