Hello Zoe
What you need is a A-165, which creates separate triggers from the
Start/Stop-gate.
You feed the Start/Stop-gate from your device into the second half of
the A-165.
You feed the output +/- into the input of both(!) AND gates of the A-166.
Feed the Start/Stop-gate into the first AND gate of the A-166.
Feed the inverted Start/Stop-gate from the second half of the A-165 into
the second AND gate of the A-166.
Now the outs of the A-166 provide separate triggers for the Start and Stop.
That is what I implemented in my DIY DIN-Sync module

and especially

IC1 represents the A-165
IC2 represents the A-166

My thinking is that as the A-157 doesn't have a run/stop in, you'd need to use something like the A-166 to logically AND together the clock and run/stop signals, then feed that into the A-157's clock input, press start on the A-157, then press start on the other module.
