Hello!
This is my first post to this group. First off, I want to say thank you to Dieter for revitalizing the modular synthesizer with the Eurorack format and the A-100 system and modules! The quality, breadth, and price of Doepfer modules is tough to beat and sets a high standard for the many other makers in the industry now.
It's such a pleasure and an amazing experience to create music/sound by patching modules and turning knobs. The possibilities seem endless. Not to mention how nice it is to avoid the ever present computer in our lives.
I started my system in May this year by building my own case using the Doepfer DIY Kit #1. Thank you Dieter for providing this option to those of us willing to get our hands dirty. The system isn't entirely Doepfer, but of the 17 modules, 6 are Doepfer. Mutable Instruments is another favorite of mine. Here's a link to my modular planner:
Today I was thinking about how many Doepfer modules have been created (nearly 200) and the fact they've been created over roughly 20 years now. Further, I was thinking how interesting it would be to see a timeline chart devoted to Doepfer A-100 modules. Has someone already created this I did a web search and looked through the files section in this group, but didn't see anything. I'm thinking x-axis is release date and y-axis is the number of newly introduced modules released. Color coding based on the category of module (A-100X, A-110X, etc.) would be interesting to include as well.
The system planner spreadsheet here has all the info needed except for a release date column:
For release date I was thinking month/year, but to get started we could skip month and just use year. I recognize that a bulk of the modules were released in the late 90's, but I still think the trend until now would be cool to see.
Anyway, sorry for the long post and I'm hoping others here might have an interest in this timeline chart idea. Please post back with your thoughts.
Thanks,
- Eric
