Hi everyone. After a bit more research I have answered my own question. There are 8 cores in a cat 5 cable, and Dieter has used all of them in the module. That means there is no separate earth connection. I use nylon washers so my A180-9s were not earthed, consequently when I tested them in separate cases with an LED plug, nothing happened. When I removed one washer from each module so the panels were connected to earth via the mounting rail and other modules in the case, everything worked fine. Dieter, you may want to consider mentioning this in the product description so that other people are aware who are not in the Yahoo group.
Best wishes to all.

I bought myself a pair of the new multicore modules as a Xmas treat (how incredibly useful in a large system Dieter - amazing that no-one has thought of it before). I have a very odd problem - The modules link perfectly with the cables supplied but they are only very short. When I try any other network cables however nothing seems to connect. I have checked the cables by linking my laptop to the router and that works fine, but I get no connections at all when I use them between the A180-9s. One of them is 1m long and two are 3m. Any suggestions please
