In the A-180-9 circuit the A-100 GND is connected to the shield of the RJ45
sockets. For all network cables we tried the connections were fine and even
GND was connected by means of the shield. To be on the safe side I measured
some cables I had available and for all cables the shield was connected. I
also cutted one of the cables and it contained 8 single wires plus the
shield.
Maybe there are cables on the market where the shield is not connected. This
could explain the behaviour you described.
I'll add the information on our website that cables have to be used where
the shield is connected.
We could also add longer cables (e.g. 1m) as the price is nearly the same as
for the 50cm cables. But a few live playing Eurorack users we asked
recommended the 50 cm cable because longer cables are unfavorable for the
typical connection of a base (e.g. A-100PB or A-100-PMB) and another case on
top (e.g. A-100P9 or A-100PMS9).
Best regards and A Happy New Year to all
