I also have an SY02 and love it, it can be so gritty, wonderful.
The SY01 is a standard -24dB LPF (transistor ladder) very similar to the
A120 but has VC resonance. The SY01 also incorporates a AD envelope and
a VCA so add a VCO and you have a basic synth.
From Analogue Systems I only use the RS120 Comb filter which is
interesting but I have yet to really explore it. It certainly needs care
in usage otherwise it can sound very harsh and very digital, rather than
musical.
For a really nice (Moogish) ladder filter have a look at
www.oakleysound.com. although these are for DIY nuts, Tony now supplies
his boards pre populated and tested so you only need to add pots and
switches and a panel. These are designed for the MOTM format but I have
many of his modules in a standard 3U euro case. His filters are lovely,
especially the Super Ladder 3 (check out the sound file that shows the
filter off).

the a108 is my favorite doepfer filter too.
i'm curious about the upcoming a105 ssm filter, because
the korg mono/poly is one of my all time favorites.
basically i find all filters useful, thats why i'm trying to get
them all. from analogue systems i only have the rs120 and rs500e
filters and i think they complement well with the doepfer
modules.
thats why i thought about filters like rs100, rs360 etc.
the rs360 is especially interesting, but nobody seems to use it
a lot. the rs360 is a bit similar to the a127, which is
also a fantastic and well sounding tool.
the sy02 from analogue solutions is fantastic too,
i got it last week and i love this filter, just like my ms20.
but i never found anybody who can tell something about the sy01.
best wishes
