hi tim,
i sent you an email but i will briefly cover again here incase
others are interested.
my power supply board is perfectly ok, looks fine and tested it out
and it has no problems which is a relief.
my power inlet socket on the back panel of the unit is where the
problem occurred.
my inlet contained its own integrated (and small) transformer and
had the option to change the voltage on which the whole system
worked depending on local supply. you could open it up and turn an
internal barrel setting the voltage to 240, 220, 115 etc. i guess
this was why it has its own transformer. the on/off switch is also
not integrated into the inlet housing and it further up the panel.
i guess yours doesnt have this function and is set to one voltage
when purchased anbd is similar to the panel shown on the doepfer web
site.
the transformer on the inlet was the one that melted, the brown goo
came from the inside of this transformer, along with the smoke and
smell.
it will be interesting to see if the reason they changed was due to
a problem with these inlets or something.
my inlet was set correctly to 240vac and both fuses are still ok.
i have emailed on the address you gave me so i will post back if i
hear anything.
