I thought a lot about syncing analogue sequencers and Roland-Sync pieces to
the MIDI-Clock incl. MIDI-song-pointers etc.. The problem is, that
MIDI-Clock does not provide any information on the start of the bar. This
problem gets very apparent at every MIDI-to-DIN-Sync converter (also the
MSY2): If you start a sequencer in the middle of the song, the DIN-sync
gear (or in this case the A154) will start to play somewhere in the middle
of the pattern, but not at the start of the pattern.
This problem should be solved someday by a clever MIDI2DIN converter (I
talked to Christian Assal several times about that - its not that easy),
but it is not useful to do this amount of developement at this moment.
To my opinion something very(!!!!) useful would be a DIN-sync In/out for
the A-154. In this case the DIN-Sync-In could be connected easily to a
MCV24 or an MSY2.
Perhaps an advanced MSY2 in a module form could be appreciated by the
customers.
This Module should not provide only DIN-Sync but also 32th 16th 8th 4th
beats and start/stop and reset on dedicated outputs.
