David Salter asked for a definition of the advanced attenutator in the
poll. Since it is a vast majority that is pro an attenuator it is perhaps
time to start diskussion of the features.
As I see it this sketch from Kevin is a very good suggestion that falls
somewhere between what I had in mind as a basic or advanced attenutator.

I actually find this proposed module so good that I think it should be made
as it is. Others have proposed ability to use it for audio purposes and that
wouldn't be bad. For me audiocapability is one thing that I would definitly
sort into the advanced version. Further more I think an advanced version
should have an output limit switch so you can be sure that it never boost
the signal about say 10 volts and risk blowing other modules with it.
I like the proposed a133 from Kevin in its setup with one in and three out
cause it suits me, but I can also see that other options could be good so
perhaps a good compromise could be to do as with the 180. The buyer can
choose if he wants it configured as 2-2 or 1-3 for each attenuator.
Final word lets say Kevins proposal is the basic dual alternative 2.
Everybody that want more features than is proposed please for for
alternative 1. As for if it is possible to put in a knob in 4 or 6 width I
am not sure, but it seemed to fit when I glanced at the surface. But perhaps
the backside needs more space. Perhaps it could be a knob as the one used
for range selection in the vcos
Perhaps in the end we will get a whole range of attenuators. The ideal would
be a slim single, the proposed dual and an advanced attenuator with voltage
control, audio capability and max output switch
