Hi Bret,
In the UK I use either Maplin or RapidElectronics - if you are not UK
based, check these out on the web so that you know what to look
for/ask for:
www.maplin.co.uk
Search on jb59 - these are the 10 way sockets that attach to the
cable. You'll also see fg44, 16-way sockets on same page.
Search on xr73 for the 16-way ribbon cable - they don't do 10 way, so
I just peel off 6 conductors (but they do sell it buy the foot, and
not a 30m reel!).
Search on jw62 for the double row PCB header plug - it's 36 pins
long, but again can be cut down.
www.rapidelectronics.co.uk
Open
http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/PDFs/CATPDFs/09_Connectors_multi.pdf
and search for 19-0300, the 10 way sockets (16 there too, 19-0305).
Search for 22-0560 for 10 way PCB header plug (which they don't do as
16 = 8+8, but you can still buy a 36+36!)
Open
http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/PDFs/CATPDFs/02_Cables.pdf
and search for 01-0172, 16 way ribbon cable: they do carry the 10 way
stuff (01-0167), but note it's sold on 30m reels only (but way
cheaper than Maplin for this amount)!
By the way, 'IDC' stands for something like 'insulation displacement
connector', i.e. is descriptive of what it actually is/does.
Hope that's of use.
Tim
