150 Euros would be about a 50% premium over the cost of an
equivalent 1/4" patchbay (e.g. Behringer Ultrapatch Pro, 2 X 24)
which is high but not terribly unreasonable considering the product
doesn't exist anywhere else.
The topic comes up frequently enough in this group to make me think
that there's a reasonable demand for it. The fact that Doepfer has
built one for themselves for use with MAQ/Schaltwerk/Regelwerk
ought to be a big clue that the rest of us have the same kind of
need.
The "build-it-yourself" ideas isn't bad, but I'd prefer a box/front
panel assembly so I could use panel-mount jacks front and rear,
instead of PCB-mount jacks, which I think would be easier to deal
with.
Another possibility would be to offer a 19" 1U "combination" module to
make it more marketable and bury the cost of the patchbay. I think an
"external interface" module consisting of both midi/CV and patchbay
would be very attractive, it would get rid of all the "wrap around"
cables to the front of the A100.
