Hi list,
What if you want to connect devices with 1/4" jacks (6,3mm) like the
Minimoog Voyager expander or external FX to the rear of the patchbay
Then you still have to use adapters/ adapter cables... perhaps a
patchbay with combined minijacks and 1/4" jacks on the rear would be a
solution.
BUT: Not everyone needs the same amount of minijacks. unfortunately most
analogue synths with CV/Gate inputs have large jacks :-(
For my part: When I need a patchbay one day, I´ll buy a 19" 1U case,
lots of minijacks AND 1/4" jacks and then make my own custom patchbay.

PS: directly wired MIDI ports are a good idea.
