Ohh, I am all negative today. And really this whole xxxxwerk-boxes and their
relations to the A100system has to my knowledge been intensly debated in the
past. Still I feel obliged to draw a lance for the cause and stand by RM.
I have a regelwerk and I think that it is a bit quirky to use - needlessly I
feel. I only use it together with my A100 and thus I consider it a part of
my A100 system. Though for the record I also only use my fuzzboz with the
A100 and don't consider that a part of it (yet) since it is not made by
Doepfer with the A100 in mind(although seemingly slipping now).
So not knowing about all the technical details I think that boxes with so
great interfaces deserves som attention and upgrades. There has also been
polls about this which states that a moderate support and upgrade program is
reasonable.
My final line is that I judge the quality of a manufacturer by his entire
line of products and support, not by a few singularities. Mercedes launched
the model A which a had a lots of problems, but to not let it sully the name
of Mercedes they took quite costly actions to make it become as good as a
Mercedes deserves to be. As the winemakers say "it takes just one rotten
grape to spoil a whole barrel".
I am one of the guys that is for a moderation in output of new modules. I do
want new modules too, but not at the expense of development and improovment
of existing gear. I actually feel that there are too many new modules in the
planning even while I like most of them.
So I rather have fewer and better that lots and flawed, that is my bottom
line.
No reproaches intended
/Andreas
