hello list,
yesterday i received my a196 pll and a133 polarizer.
the good things first:
the a196 is a really unusual sounding module and i
like it very much. i got many different sounds from it,
ranging from heavy distortion to screaming fm to
strangely modulating pulsewidths.
each one of the three phase comparator circuits reacts
totally different and together with the switchable frequency
range of the vco it produces more timbres than i had expected.
i haven't succeeded in using the pll to multiply the frequency of
a vco yet (i tried a160 and a163), but maybe i did something wrong
or i assumed that it would sound different than it really does.
all in all the a196 pll is a pretty cool module, if you are
looking for this decent portion of illness in your music :-)
to be honest, the a133 polarizer made me a bit disappointed.
it didn't worked like i thought it would, but maybe i have a
flawed one. so i don't want to describe the a133 further,
before doepfer had the chance to explain the behaviour of my
polarizer module. i'll post the results as soon as possible.
best wishes
