Yesterday, I left my studio for about half an hour, and when I
returned, one of my Doepfer cases had blown its fuse and there was a
burning smell in the air.
When I looked at the PSU, there was some black plastic like
substance all around the power transformer, and it had dripped down
onto one of the bus boards. At a guess, I'd say this may be a bad
thing.
According to my numbers, I had about 635ma worth of modules in that
case. All were Doepfer, except for one Blacet Mixer/Processor.
Here is my first question: My 635ma calculation is based on rating
the Blacet module at 35ma. The Blacet website says it requires "+/-
35 ma." The ratings for Doepfer modules don't include this "+/-"
before their power ratings. Is "+/- 35ma" the same as "35ma" or
should I have doubled the Blacet power consumption when I added up
the numbers
Also: Any ideas on why the fuse didn't blow before the transformer
melted I had a 250ma fuse and I am running on 115v.
Anybody else ever have this happen Any advice A replacement power
supply isn't a whole lot of money, but I don't want to just fry
another transformer.
