I devoted one portable Doepfer rack I have to emulating a AKS. It can
sound in many ways similar and have the same functions, but what it
lacks is the control voltage ranges are not as sensitive as on the AKS.
I used to own 2 AKSs and a VCS3 and the VCOs would sweep a larger range
and the joystick had much more range also (I have a AS joystick in my
rig). The difference in 1v/oct and .32v/oct as you can guess. You will
have to get AS VCOs to get the waveshaping, and as mentioned, the AS
envelope shaper clone to re-create that (I just have the Doepfer VCA on
mine). The rig is just as portable for me but the patch cord vs. pin
matrix was a BIG change for me. It is MUCH easier to set up stuff on
the pin matrix even though with a typical portable Doepfer rack full
you have many more patch points than can fit on a decent pin matrix.
