I agree with Bakis on this one.
I own a largish A100 system (100 modules) and a more modest AS system (30 modules) plus some of the larger format expensive modules by MOTM, as well as having had several older systems, Roland, Korg and ARP.
The A100 system has a depth and character of sound that while not as distinctive as some systems definitely has a wider palette thanks to the variety of modules available.
Recommended.

Subject: Re: 1 Some Tips for a new system
hello bruno,
i don't know why this reviewer isn't,but i am really
pleased with my doepfer a100's sound and i'm using a
huge system for four years now.i also have an
integrator system and even the expensive technosaurus
selector modular.but i don't really hear that much
difference in the sound of my selector and the
a100.btw,the vca's in my a100 sound fine,expect the
fact that the newer vca's have a more harsh sound than
the older version ones.i prefer the older
version,btw.the ring modulator sounds fine
also, regardless of the fact that the ringmod passes
sound or not when nothing is connected to the second input.also, there are some processing and filter modules in my a100 that sound fantastic and even better than other (and much more expensive)modules of other modulars.so cheaper DOES NOT mean worse.what it means it means bigger module production numbers and cheaper knobs and minijack inputs, instead of the expensive moog-like knobs and big jack inputs of other modular manufacturers.many other modulars may look more expensive, because of the better knobs and big jack inputs but they DON'T sound better than the a100. and in my studio,i have many other modulars and patchable synths to compare my a100 with:ems vcs3,arp2600,korg ms20,roland system100,integrator and technosaurus modulars and oberheim SEM.all these have a different sound than the a100 sound ,but NOT better. so,i guess that my opinion on the a100 sound really counts. bakis.
